Clinic Operations and Service

JCU Dental is a teaching clinic where dental students provide care under the close supervision of qualified dentists and specialists. This allows us to offer high-quality treatment at reduced fees. Appointments may take a little longer than at private clinics, as students work carefully and are assessed at each stage.

All treatment is performed by senior students who have completed extensive pre-clinical training. Each procedure is supervised, checked, and approved by experienced registered dentists, ensuring your care meets professional standards.

Yes. Our clinics are open to everyone — including adults, children, concession and non-concession card holders.

Your first visit includes a comprehensive dental examination and X-rays. We will discuss your oral health, answer questions and provide a treatment plan. Please allow extra time for appointments.

The clinic operates during the student’s semester. Emergency dental services are available during clinic operations.

Absolutely. We welcome patients of all ages and tailor care to suit children, adults and older patients.

Children between the ages of 4 and 16 or up until Year 10 incur no charge for general dentistry.

Children are welcome to the appointment provided there is a carer to look after them during the treatment. The carer must remain with child for the duration of the appointment.

This will be dependent on the treatment being performed. Most treatments require a second visit.

We offer a 12-month warranty period.

We endeavor to keep you with the same student, however at times this may not be possible.

Cost and Payment

As dental students provide treatment under supervision, we can offer services at significantly reduced rates — without compromising on quality.

Eligible concession card holders receive free general dental treatment.

There are fees attached to all complex dentistry i.e Endodontics, Dentures, Crown and bridge.

Adult dental services are not covered by Medicare.

JCU Dental is a teaching facility and all treatments are provided by senior dental students who do not have a provider number. Therefore, you are unable to make a claim through your private health fund.

We accept EFTPOS, credit cards, and cash. All fees are payable on the day of service.

We are unable to prove an estimate before your appointment. The students will need to do a comprehensive oral exam and will provide you with an estimate.
