- Provision of clinical education and research environment
Our History
The Discipline of Dentistry at James Cook University was established in 2008 in response to the challenges presented by the oral health needs of northern Australia. The school was established with a grant of $52.5m from the federal government and represents the College of Medicines and Dentistry’s strong commitment to professional health education in the area.
A further $22m grant saw the opening of our dental clinic at the Smithfield campus in Cairns in February 2012. Another $10m grant led to the foundation of our Townsville clinic, which opened in 2014.
